EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people reprocess traumatic memories so they’re no longer psychologically or physically distressing. The process involves recalling traumatic experiences while engaging in bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds alternating between the left and right sides), which helps the brain integrate and “digest” those memories.
EMDR intensive therapy is a focused, condensed version of EMDR. Traditional EMDR typically happens in weekly 60 minute sessions. In intensive EMDR, treatment is delivered in longer and more concentrated blocks.
Although the upfront cost is higher, intensive treatment is significantly shorter, often saving both time and money — and resulting in fewer missed workdays. Intensives also reduce the duration of suffering from trauma symptoms and the disruptions they cause in relationships, work, and overall wellbeing.
They help you heal more quickly, with lasting results.
Because waitlists for quality trauma treatment providers are long in Connecticut and across the country, EMDR intensives offer a major advantage: much shorter wait times, since clients complete treatment over a condensed period.
